The Nord-Pas-de-Calais region has long been mocked for its accent, burdened by the stereotype of the “coal country,” and cast into melancholy by an industrial epic that ended in disaster. This film, through a blend of surprising testimonies and archival footage, brings us closer to these “Northeners,” to their invigorating enthusiasm and their consoling solidarity.
